Mason's Surgery

The saying it gets worse before it gets better definitely comes in to play when looking at Mason. He was such a trooper ... his first stay in a hotel room, followed by waking up at 5 am and not being able to eat until after his surgery. Of course it is an emotional process as they get him all registered. Then, you take him into the pre op room to hand your little baby off to a complete stranger. Followed by the period to sit and wait and wait and wait. Okay it was only 20 minutes of waiting, but I checked my phone like 10 times to see how much time had past. I was a nervous mess. The doctor came in and gave us good news - everything went well and due to his fair complexion we may opt to have one treatment a year. We are praying that this is the truth. The pictures below show what Mason's cheek looks like right now. He will be bruised for 2 to 3 weeks, although right now it looks more like a burn then anything. All in all, he's still our adorable prince. For those of you who know Mason he is always happy and kept that image up throughout the entire morning. When he woke up he immediately smiled at the nurse and made her day so he is in the same super good mood as always. We want to say thank you to all who kept Mason in your thoughts and prayers. We also want to thank both sets of Grandparents for your help and support during this difficult process. A special thanks to Uncle Tom and Aunt JuJu for taking care of our other boy ... Cooper.
